TikTok is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to block the federal government from shutting down the platform in January after Congress banned the social media site as a Chinese-controlled national security risk.

With the help of a high-powered appellate team, TikTok and its China-affiliated holding company ByteDance are requesting an emergency injunction barring the U.S. Department of Justice from enforcing the recently enacted Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act.
