President Joe Biden this week vetoed a bill that would have created 63 permanent federal judgeships to help understaffed courts deal with high caseloads, preventing President-elect Donald Trump from getting the chance to fill additional vacancies.
In a statement explaining his veto, Biden said the bill would create new judgeships where senators have tried to keep existing judicial vacancies open.
