Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. addressed four "illegitimate" types of attacks on the federal judiciary in his year-end report Tuesday, closing out 2024 with a sober warning of the perils facing judicial independence.
Roberts' nine-page letter sounded the alarm about the increase of threats of physical violence against judges and admonished public officials for disparaging statements about courts that "may prompt dangerous reactions by others."
