James "Jim" Jones, a former managing partner of Arnold & Porter who went on to become a law firm management consultant and a leader in legal academy, died last month at the age of 79.

Jones died Dec. 11 after contracting a bacterial infection, according to his obituary. "Jim was not sick nor was he battling any long-term illness. He contracted an invasive bacterial infection that rapidly spread and evolved into sepsis in a matter of hours," the obituary said.
