Tom Goldstein, an appellate attorney and co-founder of SCOTUSBlog, was charged Thursday with tax fraud by federal prosecutors who claim he misused firm funds to cover gambling debts from poker games involving millions of dollars and to pursue intimate relationships with women.

Goldstein faces 22 charges of tax evasion, preparing false tax statements and making false statements on loan applications in a 50-page indictment filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
