The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau resolved five outstanding cases for a total of nearly $206.6 million and filed a lawsuit during the final week of Joe Biden’s administration, even as Republicans promised to reign in the agency once President Donald Trump took office.
The largest resolution was $175 million with Cash App's parent company Block to settle claims of failing to protect users from fraud. Block neither admitted nor denied the allegation in agreeing to the settlement.
