In agreeing to hear an Oklahoma case over the nation’s first religious public charter school, the U.S. Supreme Court has set the stage for a potentially historic First Amendment decision that could have spillover effects on school districts around the country.

The court granted certiorari, or review, on Friday in St. Isidore of  Seville Catholic Virtual School v. Drummond and a companion case from Oklahoma's statewide charter school board. The case is expected to be heard by the justices in April, with a decision likely at the end of June or early July.
