The softer economy is having a tangible effect in south Florida’s legal community with layoffs, reassignments and pay cuts taking hold after years of steady growth.

Akerman Senterfitt had a net loss of 10 attorneys in the region in the year ended Aug. 30, and Fowler White Boggs Banker lost 18 attorneys statewide in the same time frame.
