Intellectual property issues increasingly are affected by many forces, including rapid technology changes, globalization and demographic shifts. Such forces have made intellectual property increase in economic importance, and that change in value has led to spirited political debate. The Section of Intellectual Property Law is the oldest substantive membership group in the American Bar Association and the largest IP organization in the world. With the strength of the ABA behind it, the section is a leading voice for the development and improvement of IP laws and their fair and just administration.

During this coming bar year, advocacy for practical, workable intellectual property laws and enforcement policies will continue as a major activity of the section.
