A Texas state district judge in Bryan, Texas, Tuesday signed off on a $2.1 million settlement that Texas A&M University reached with the families of four students killed and three students injured in the 1999 bonfire accident.

Judge Steve Smith of the 361st District signed the agreed judgment in In Re: Bonfire Injury Cases the day after the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents authorized Elsa Murano, A&M’s president, to settle claims against the university.
