Law against data mining is upheld

In a constitutional battle pitting privacy groups and the state of New Hampshire against pharmaceutical representatives, data miners and some free speech advocates, the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld the constitutionality of New Hampshire's Prescription Information Confidentiality Act. The law bars pharmacies and others from releasing data about doctors' prescribing habits.
