Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough (Columbia S.C.): Reginal J. Leichty has been elected to the partnership and will be located in the Washington office. Leichty will focus on providing counsel to state and local education agencies, national education associations and organizations. Previously, Leichty was an attorney at EducationCounsel, an affiliate of the firm and an advocacy organization that works to strengthen education systems, close achievement gaps and expand access to educational opportunities.

Bracewell & Giuliani (Houston): David M. Perlman joins the firm’s energy practice as partner in the Washington office. Perlman will focus on both regulatory and transactional aspects in the energy industry. Previously, Perlman was chief counsel to Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.’s commodities business in New York.
Dorsey & Whitney: Kenneth L. Jorgensen joins the firm’s trial group as partner in the Minneapolis office. Previously, Jorgensen served as a judge on the Washington County, Minn., District Court. Before that, Jorgensen served as the director of the Minnesota Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility and the Minnesota Client Security Board.
Morgan, Lewis & Bockius: Colm F. Connolly joins the firm’s litigation practice as partner in the Philadelphia office. Connolly will focus on corporate investigations and white-collar matters. Previously, Connolly served as the U.S. attorney for the District of Delaware.
Squire, Sanders & Dempsey: David Spooner joins the firm’s antitrust, competition, trade and regulatory practice group as of counsel to the Washington office. Spooner will focus on complex trade matters. Previously, he was assistant secretary of commerce for import administration.

Baker Botts (Houston): Steven M. Tyndall joins the corporate department as partner in the Austin, Texas, office. Tyndall will focus on public and private offerings of equity and debt securities and mergers and acquisitions. Previously, Tyndall was a partner at Fish & Richardson.
Baker & Daniels (Indianapolis): Julie P. Shelton and Michael J. Kanute join the firm as partners in the Chicago office. Shelton joins the construction and real property litigation group and will focus on construction, products liability, employment and commercial law. Kanute joins the products liability group and will focus on products liability litigation. Previously, Shelton and Kanute were partners at Butler, Rubin, Saltarelli & Boyd.
Brown Rudnick (Boston): Kevin P. Joyce joins the firm’s real estate group as partner in the Boston office. Joyce will focus on real estate development and finance, leasing, property acquisition and disposition, and zoning and land use matters. Previously, Joyce was a partner at Nixon Peabody.
Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck (Denver): Shai N. Halbe joins the firm as partner in the Los Angeles office. Halbe will focus on complex acquisitions, dispositions, management arrangements, joint ventures, financings and restructurings. Previously, Halbe was head of the real estate practice at Heller Ehrman.
Crowell & Moring (Washington): Daniel D. Edelman joins the firm’s commercial litigation group as partner in the New York office. Edelman will focus on antitrust and securities class actions. Previously, Edelman was a partner at Heller Ehrman.
King & Spalding (Atlanta): James Bremen joins the firm’s global transactions group as partner in the London office. Bremen will focus on complex international construction projects. Previously, Bremen was a partner at Maxwell Winward.
Milberg (New York): Jonathan M. Landers joins the firm as partner and will head the bankruptcy practice in the New York office. Landers will focus on bankruptcy, insolvency, restructuring, financing transactions, purchase/sale of assets and bankruptcy and insolvency litigation matters. Previously, Landers was a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges (Los Angeles): Christopher A. Mathews joins the firm’s intellectual property practice as partner in the Los Angeles office. Mathews will focus on patent cases for startups and established companies. Previously, Mathews was a partner at Howrey.
MERGERS
Anderson Kill & Olick (New York): The firm merges with Ventura, Calif.-based Wood & Bender. Nationally, the combined firm will retain the name Anderson Kill & Olick, while the practice in California will be named Anderson Kill Wood & Bender. Wood & Bender represented corporate policyholders in insurance recovery matters since 1995. All of Wood & Bender’s attorneys will continue to work for the new entity.
Dickinson Wright (Detroit): The firm merges with Nashville, Tenn.-based Stewart, Estes & Donnell, founded in 1971. Stewart, Estes & Donnell focused on civil litigation. The merger brings Dickinson Wright’s litigation, employment and products liability practices into the Southern market.
