Ice Miller (Indianapolis): Donna More and Philip C. Parenti join the firm’s public affairs team in the Chicago office. More joins as partner and will focus on gaming regulatory matters, litigation, mergers, acquisitions, employment, risk management, labor and community affairs. Previously, More was vice president and general counsel for Columbia Sussex Corp. and Tropicana Casinos in Crestview Hills, Ky. Parenti joins as of counsel and will focus on civil and criminal enforcement, corporate compliance, white-collar criminal defense and gaming law. Previously, Parenti served as an independent gaming consultant.

Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone (Detroit): Robert J. Morad joins the firm as senior counsel to the Troy, Mich., office. Morad will focus on criminal and civil defense and litigation. Previously, he was an assistant prosecuting attorney for Oak­land County, Mich. Also,Carl H. von Ende has been appointed general counsel of the firm. Von Ende will advise and represent its managing directors and chief executive officer on corporate management issues. He succeeds Frederick A. Acomb.

Morris, manning & Martin (Atlanta): Holly A. Pierson joins the firm’s health care and commercial litigation practices as of counsel to the Atlanta office. Pierson will focus on health care fraud, whistleblower actions, identity theft, mortgage fraud, environmental issues and public corruption. Previously, Pierson was a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough.

Patton Boggs (Washington): Thomas A. Russo joins the firm as senior counsel to the New York office. Russo will focus on counseling clients with regard to the regulatory changes that are expected from executive branch agencies and Congress. Previously, Russo was vice chairman of Lehman Brothers Inc. and chief legal officer of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld: Richard K. Welsh joins the firm’s litigation practice as partner in the Los Angeles office. Welsh will focus on class actions, insurance coverage disputes and commercial contract and tort disputes. Previously, Welsh was a partner at Greenberg Traurig.

Baker & Daniels (Indianapolis): Scott A. Semenek joins the firm’s commercial and bankruptcy group as counsel to the Chicago office. Semenek will focus on bankruptcy and reorganization, including litigation, transactional and counseling. Previously, Semenek was of counsel to Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon.

Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz: Charles T. Huddleston joins the firm’s employment law practice as partner in the Atlanta office. Huddleston will focus on commercial, employment and labor issues. Previously, Huddleston was a partner and co-chairman of the employment law and public sector groups at Arnall Golden Gregory.

Choate, Hall & Stewart (Boston): Michael T. Gass joins the firm as partner and chairman of the securities litigation group. Gass will focus on complex securities litigation, investigations and proceedings brought by government enforcement agencies. Previously, Gass was chairman of the securities, government enforcement and corporate governance practice group at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge.

Cozen O’Connor (Philadelphia): Albert J. Pinzon joins the firm’s business law department as partner in the New York office. Pinzon will focus on the creation and structuring of complex longevity and mortality financial solutions. Previously, Pinzon was a partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan.

Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal: Glenn C. Colton joins the firm’s national litigation practice as partner in the New York office. Colton will co-chair the white-collar and government investigations practice and also focus on complex civil litigation. Previously, Colton was a partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
