BINGHAM McCUTCHEN : Tomohiko Makino joins the firm’s intellectual property practice group as partner in the Tokyo office. Makino will focus on copyright, trademark and unfair competition cases; corporate and contract matters; and strategic intellectual property planning. Previously, Makino was a partner at the Fuji Law Patent Office in Tokyo. Additionally, Peter Obstler joins the firm’s litigation practice as partner in the San Francisco office. Obstler will focus on complex class action litigation. Previously, Obstler was a partner at O’Melveny & Myers.

BUCHALTER NEMER (Los Angeles): Peter D. Holbrook and Matteo G. Daste join the firm as partners. Holbrook joins the labor and employment practice group in the Irvine, Calif., office and will focus on discrimination and harassment, wrongful termination, trade secrets and unfair competition matters. Daste joins the business practices group in the San Francisco office and will focus on corporate finance, venture capital financing and mergers and acquisitions.
