The public spectacle of U.S. Supreme Court argument doesn’t usually return to Washington before the first Monday in October, when the new term begins. But this year, the fireworks will start Sept. 9.
Not only will it likely be the first day on the bench for new Justice Sonia Sotomayor, but it also may showcase a battle of titans in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, for which the justices have slated an unusual second round of arguments.
