Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. garnered a lot of serious attention last week for what he said about State of the Union speeches at the University of Alabama School of Law. But one of the funnier moments came when he was asked how he picks his law clerks. He responded with his general criteria — self-confident, “nice people” who can talk as well as they write — followed by an anecdote.
