Morgan Chu, 59, has been an inspiration to some and a nemesis to others. In the past decade, he has won some of the largest verdicts in the world involving patent disputes. Chu, a high school dropout, is known for his rapid rise to the top of both the patent bar and Los Angeles-based Irell & Manella, which he co-managed from 1997 to 2003.
