The Fairfield, Conn.-based company has a vast reach that extends to appliances, lighting, generators and turbines, aircraft engines and even finance (General Electric Capital) and entertainment (NBC Universal). Its 2009 revenues were nearly $157 billion. The company, which was founded in 1892, employs 323,000 people around the world.
