Two Washington legal legends passed away on May 23 — Eldon “Took” Crowell, 86, the founder of Crowell & Moring, and David Ginsburg, 98, whose legal career stretched back to the Great Depression.

In 1979, Crowell was one of the leaders of a mass exodus from Jones Day’s Washington office, taking 53 lawyers with him to open a government-contracts boutique. Today, the firm of Crowell & Moring has more than 500 lawyers in eight offices.
