Trouble on Capitol Hill means a sharp jump in lobbying bills.
Eight companies and trade associations under hard scrutiny from Congress, including BP PLC and Toyota Motor Corp., spent $9.8 million lobbying in the second quarter of 2010, disclosure reports filed last week show. That’s a 16% increase from the $8.44 million the same group of companies spent in the first quarter. The companies are BP, Transocean Ltd., Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Halliburton Co., the American Petroleum Institute, Toyota, Goldman Sachs & Co. and Johnson & Johnson.
