Former Rep. Bob Livingston may not be running in November’s election, but he has a lot of reasons to worry about how his fellow Republicans will fare.
The past four years of Democratic ascendancy have been tough on the Livingston Group, the lobbying firm he founded after leaving office in 1999. The firm’s gross lobbying revenue is down 30% from five years ago, its high-profile list of foreign clients has dwindled to two and, earlier this year, the firm quietly shuttered its branch office in Livingston’s old Louisiana district, part of an overall move to cut expenses.
