WASHINGTON — Potentially capping a decade of litigation in Washington, the government on Oct. 19 agreed to pay $680 million to a class of American Indian farmers and ranchers who alleged discrimination by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s loan program.
Justice Department officials and attorneys for the plaintiffs announced the settlement during a hearing in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
