MAMA CASS’ KIN SINGING THE BLUES. When Mama Cass died in 1974, rumor had it that the untimely demise of the corpulent songstress resulted from her choking on a ham sandwich. Turns out, death-by-sandwich was just an urban myth. The Mamas & The Papas singer died of a heart attack, with, according to some sources, an uneaten ham sandwich at her side. But uncertainties remain about the 32-year-old singer’s death, including whether she had a will.
