How many partners from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom does it take to interview a potential hire? “Three million,” joked Michele Roberts. Actually, she didn’t count, but she estimated she met between 50 and 100 partners before finally making the jump to Skadden, where she started on March 23.
Her move is a loss for Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, where she’s done civil and criminal litigation since 1994. She said Skadden contacted her, and though she “wasn’t necessarily looking,” she couldn’t refuse. “It was just an opportunity that I would have been a fool to pass up on. I’m many things, but I’m not a fool,” she said.
