China is notorious for its knockoff designer fashions — but exercise equipment and Disney pins? A Los Angeles man pleaded guilty in federal court on May 9 to trafficking 2,000 counterfeit Ab Circle Pro machines worth $650,000 into the United States. Last year, a California woman was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for importing $581,000 worth of counterfeit Malibu Pilates and Bowflex equipment. That pales in comparison to the Disney pins. On May 12, the Orange County, Calif., district attorney’s office announced that two Los Angeles-area men faced charges of importing $2 million in counterfeit collectible Disney pins from China. They were arrested by the police department in Anaheim, Calif., home to Disneyland. — Amanda Bronstad
