Since 1915, Commercial Metals Co. has manufactured, recycled and distributed steel, metal products and related materials around the world. Aluminum, ferrous and nonferrous metals and industrial minerals are some of its products. It employs more than 11,000 people in 13 countries, with headquarters in Irving, Texas. Its $6.5 billion in revenues last fiscal year earned the company a No. 361 ranking on the Fortune 500.

LEGAL TEAM AND OUTSIDE COUNSEL

Commercial Metals’ legal department employs approximately 30 people. There are nine U.S.-based lawyers, a trio of attorneys in Poland and one in Croatia. “The majority of the legal work sits outside, but our goal is to reduce that amount,” said General Counsel Ann Bruder. She has been analyzing the legal spend with an eye to cutting costs.
