BREUER AND DAVIS, THE LANNYS, CAUSE CONFUSION
Lanny Davis and Lanny Breuer — household names in the Washington legal community — nonetheless cause some confusion because of their first name. Just last week, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) referred to Davis, the crisis communications strategist, as the head of DOJ’s Criminal Division. Actually, that’s Breuer’s job. For nearly three years, no less. “I get those two mixed up,” Schumer said at a DOJ oversight hearing, calling them “the two Lannys I read about.” Breuer, a former Covington & Burling partner, and Davis met at the White House in 1997 serving as special counsel to President Bill Clinton.
