Essex County, N.J., court officials on Dec. 14 suspended all matrimonial and complex civil trials effective immediately, citing a rash of judicial vacancies. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has blocked all appointments in the county amid a dispute with a Newark state senator. The county now has 11 judicial vacancies.

EXECUTIVES CHARGED

Eight former executives and agents of Siemens A.G. have been charged with bribing officials in Argentina to get a $1 billion government contract. The indictment, announced on Dec. 13, came three years after the company paid a record $800 million to settle related Foreign Corrupt Practices Act charges. The company paid another $800 million to settle charges in Germany.
