A Maine trust that provides health insurance to school employees recently took its fight against a state disclosure law to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. The law requires disclosure of loss information to schools seeking to weigh health insurance costs. As defined in the law, loss information includes “the amount of premium received, the amount of claims paid and the loss ratio.”
On June 7, the appeals court heard oral arguments in the plaintiff’s appeal of a denial by Judge George Singal of the District of Maine of its preliminary injunction motion to stop implementation of the law.
