Louis Briskman of CBS Corp. was the highest-earning corporate general counsel in the nation as of June 1, earning $14.6 million in base pay, bonuses and stock awards and options, NLJ affiliate Corporate Counsel reported. Overall, base pay declined by 1.8 percent. Traditional bonuses and nonequity incentive pay were down a combined 7.7 percent.
DEWEY DEAL ON HOLD
A proposed settlement in the Dewey & LeBoeuf bankruptcy has been placed on hold amid dissension by former partners, who would have paid between $25,000 and $3 million each under the $103 million deal. Dewey’s chief restructuring officer, Joff Mitchell, told the partners on July 19 that the deadline for an agreement had been bumped back two weeks and that revisions were under discussion.
