President Obama’s circuit court confirmations are on par with previous presidents, an analysis by Brookings Institution fellow Russell Wheeler concluded. Obama’s 30 confirmations match President Clinton’s first-term record and are four below President George W. Bush’s first term. And Obama’s appellate confirmations have altered the balance in federal circuit courts, Wheeler said.
OVERSEAS ACCREDITATION
The ABA’s Council of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar voted on August 3 to withhold accreditation from law schools outside the United States. The vote capped four years of debate into whether the ABA should allow overseas law schools that follow the U.S. educational model to apply for accreditation.
