Goodwin Procter (Boston): Abim Thomas joins the firm’s securities litigation and white-collar defense group, and its gaming, gambling and sweepstakes practice, as counsel to the Boston office. Thomas will focus on online and brick-and-mortar casino gambling issues. Previously, Thomas was deputy chief legal counsel to Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.

King & Spalding (Atlanta): Judy O’Brien joins the firm’s corporate practice group as partner in the Redwood Shores, Calif., office and will focus on private equity and venture-capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and securities and regulatory issues. Previously, O’Brien was founder, principal and sole proprietor of Laurel Advisors.
