A commitment to pro bono is one that all attorneys theoretically assume when they become members of the bar, but AT&T Inc. has taken a creative approach to its pro bono efforts. The telecommunications company employs more than 400 attorneys across the country and uses regional committees to coordinate pro bono efforts.
In charge of the Midwest committee are John "Jay" Reidy III and Melissa Suster, general attorneys in the business marketing, legal, and the labor and employment departments, respectively, in AT&T’s Chicago office. They aim to provide pro bono opportunities for attorneys at all levels. "We have a variety of programs that vary to draw the largest number of people to participate," Suster said.
