More than 200 attorneys and staff at Legal Services NYC walked off their jobs on May 15 after voting overwhelmingly to reject management offers for a new contract. The organization pledged to continue operations with just under 40 managers handling cases, though it expected a strike to significantly reduce the number of new cases it will take on. Members of the Legal Services Staff Association have been working without a contract since July 2012.

TOYOTA OBJECTIONS

Potential class members in the sudden-acceleration ­litigation against Toyota Motor Corp. have filed objections to the proposed $1.6 billion ­settlement in the economic damages cases. More than a dozen objectors raised problems with the deal in court papers, including a proposed $30 million cy pres award for automotive accident research.
