When it comes to making pharmaceutical litigation disappear, Williams & Connolly gets it done. The Washington firm, which was national coordinating co-counsel for Merck & Co. Inc. in its $4.85 billion Vioxx settlement, successfully wiped out cases involving the prescription drugs Prempro, Chantix and Raptiva last year.

"They never gave up, fought on every issue, and I can tell you that — in the future — I'd rather litigate against just about any other law firm than them," Zoe Littlepage of Littlepage Booth in Houston said via email. Littlepage is lead plaintiffs' counsel in the multidistrict litigation (MDL) over Prempro. That's a hormone replacement therapy drug used to treat menopausal symptoms.
