Accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev filed a court motion on Wednesday complaining of “extraordinary and severe” restrictions that violate his constitutional rights and hamper his attorneys’ efforts to build a case.
Tsarnaev moved to vacate “special administrative measures imposed on defendant and defense counsel.” The restrictions limit his access to mail, the telephone and visitors other than his immediate family, and bar him from communicating with news reporters. They also restrict his lawyers’ freedom of access, the motion says. And he is barred from participating in group prayer or communicating orally or in writing with other inmates.
