There’s a game of legal department musical chairs going on at Time Inc. as it prepares to separate from parent company Time Warner Inc. Maurice Edelson is leaving Time, where he served as general counsel, to become deputy general counsel at Time Warner. Stepping into Edelson’s shoes at Time will be Lawrence “Lon” Jacobs.

Edelson, whose new job is effective immediately, has been with Time in several capacities since first joining in 1998. In 2007 he was made general counsel, and in that role oversaw M&A, real estate and facilities, security, and international licensing and syndication.
