Michael Kelley, 56, has joined Akerman as partner in the corporate practice group in its Washington office. Kelley, who joins the firm from EMP Global LLC, focuses on fund formation for investors. He earned his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law.

Matthew Axelrod, 43, will join Cohen Milstein’s Washington office as partner in January. He will focus on corporate accountability issues. Axelrod joins the firm from the U.S. Department of Justice, where he served as an associate deputy attorney general. Axelrod earned his J.D. from Yale Law School.
