U.S. Supreme Court scholar Carolyn Shapiro is the latest former high court law clerk to become a state solicitor general.
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan appointed Shapiro on Jan. 14 to the position, where she will supervise about 40 lawyers handling matters that may bring her before the Supreme Court as well as state and federal appellate courts.
