In his first major address as Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson today called for “commonsense solutions” to the nation’s immigration system and asked Congress to provide legal clarity on the department’s role in safeguarding private-sector cyber networks.

“Our immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed,” said Johnson, a former Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison partner who took over the leadership of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in December. He spoke at The Woodrow Wilson International Center in downtown Washington.
