Deputies did not use excessive force or violate constitutional rights when they used a stun gun to shock and subdue an Ohio jail inmate who had just suffered a seizure, a divided federal appeals court ruled on Feb. 6.

Michael Reed claimed his constitutional rights were violated when deputies used a Taser on him twice while removing him from his cell for medical treatment following a seizure on Jan. 28, 2009, and a third time later in the hospital.
