The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other major business groups on Monday gave measured praise to the White House’s decision to delay the full implementation of the Affordable Care Act employer mandate, saying the federal government still has work to do.

The Chamber, National Retail Federation and National Restaurant Association thanked President Barack Obama’s administration for giving companies until 2016 to be fully compliant with the mandate, which was set to take effect in 2015. The Affordable Care Act provision directs businesses with at least 50 full-time employees, including full-time equivalent workers, to give reasonably priced health insurance to them or risk fines.
