Indiana-based company CMG Worldwide Inc. has filed a suit against Twitter Inc. over the username @jamesdean. CMG represents actor James Dean’s estate and wants to take over the Twitter account, which has been run by a fan of the actor since 2009 and boasts more than 8,000 followers. The present owner of @jamesdean tweeted emails between himself and CMG that suggested a co-administration of the account was in the offing, according to WISH-TV. But Clare Neumann, licensing executive and legal counsel for CMG, said the estate wants complete control to protect the actor’s legacy. “Having the Twitter.com/jamesdean is important for the brand identity,” she said. Twitter reviewed the account and found that it does not violate the site’s trademark policy. — Richard Binder
