Alleged defects in a $2,000 Nikon camera, which plaintiffs say ruin photographs with dust and oil spotting, are the subject of a class-action complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Feb. 19.

The nine-count complaint also alleges New York-based Nikon Inc. deceptively marketed the Nikon D600 camera and refused to repair or replace the defective devices advertised as using cutting-edge technology to produce professional “FX-quality” images.
