Founded in 1982, Adobe Systems Inc. makes Acrobat, Flash, Illustrator and Photoshop software. Roughly 4,000 of its 11,500 employees work at its San Jose headquarters and in San Francisco.

Adobe has been transitioning from selling packaged software to providing a software-as-a-service subscription model. Adobe last year spent $600 million to acquire Paris-based Neolane to expand its Marketing Cloud services and added New York-based startup Behance Inc. for about $150 million to integrate into its Creative Cloud services.
