A group of cabbies sued four of Chicago’s largest taxicab companies in a federal class action that claims they misclassify drivers as independent contractors when they should be considered employees under Illinois wage law.
The drivers filed the suit on March 26 in the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Illinois against Carriage Cab, Yellow Cab, Flash Cab, and Dispatch Taxi and their owners and affiliates. The plaintiffs worked as drivers for defendant companies, which all operate tax services in Chicago.
