Whole Foods Market California Inc. has violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by allegedly conducting background checks and obtaining credit reports on potential employees without valid authorization, a federal class action lawsuit claims.
Patrick Hathaway, a former Whole Foods employee, filed the suit March 21 in U.S. District for the Southern District of California. The complaint alleged the consent form the natural and organic food retailer used to obtain Hathaway’s consumer report and conduct a background check was unlawful.
