District of Columbia Superior Court Judge Robert Richter will retire in October after serving three decades on the bench.

The local group that vets applicants for Superior Court and the D.C. Court of Appeals, the D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission, announced Richter’s retirement this morning. The commission is accepting applications from lawyers interested in replacing Richter through May 16.
