Plaintiffs in a proposed class action against an Illinois debt collector have suffered a setback in their efforts to trade a potentially greater award of damages available in federal court for a presumed friendlier state venue.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit reversed on April 9 an earlier ruling by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois that had remanded Michael Johnson v. Pushpin Holdings LLC, to Illinois state court.
