When it comes to encouraging pro bono work, Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp.’s Luise Welby said the key is to provide attorneys with the right tools to reduce the “fear factor.”

“Lack of time and expertise are the main obstacles to getting in-house legal departments to become involved with pro bono work,” said Welby, managing associate general counsel at Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp., commonly called “Freddie Mac.”
